Contribute Your Video Self Portraits

As part of Ghost Parade, I am putting together a video portrait of Ebbw Vale. The film will consist of hundreds of 10 second video portraits of people from Ebbw Vale and will be projected onto a large outdoor screen as part of Adain Avion in July 2012. People from Ebbw Vale and the surrounding area, or people who have an association with the town are invited to make their own portraits and send them in.

Examples are available on Ghost Parade’s YouTube channel.

If you would like to send in a video portrait for inclusion in Ghost Parade, here’s what to do:

  • Create your portrait using whatever technology you have to hand (mobile phone, webcam, laptop, camera, flipbook). Videos should be 10 - 20 seconds (I’ll probably use between 5 and 10 seconds).
  • Your video can be a solo portrait, or a group of people (family group, club, band, group of friends etc).
  • Look directly at the camera. Use props, clothing and location to express yourself. Have a look at the examples on You Tube for inspiration.
  • Be as innovative or eccentric as you like!
  • TO SUBMIT:
    • From a mobile phone, email your video to slogj47wpokr@m.youtube.com (apologies about that email address!)
    • OR go to WeTransfer.com and send your video file to ghost@stefhancaddick.co.uk. You may need to transfer the movie file to a computer to do this.
  • You can either submit anonymously or include your name, website, facebook page, twitter  etc and I’ll add it to the credits on the website.
  • Come along to see the finished film on 1st July 2012 in Ebbw Vale

Videos which are submitted direct to YouTube will be viewable on the Ghost Parade YouTube channel.

NOTES: I will need to edit any submitted videos. Videos which are likely to cause offence or do not follow the guidelines set out above will not be used. Videos which are included will in most cases, be used in conjunction with other video portraits. The work may be shown again at festivals, exhibitions and events.

Submitted films will be combined with archival films from the area. The image at the top of the page is drawn in part from the Ingot Pictorial series and is used by the kind permission of the Ebbw Vale Works Archival Trust.
